The Peace That Broke Down the Wall
My dear son,
I hope you will not keep someone at a distance simply because their background differs from yours. In his own body, Jesus broke down the wall between Jewish and Gentile people. He gave his life to unite those who had been enemies.
Your reconciliation with me and your life together are precious. People do not need to be alike before they can love each other. You can share Christ's peace while listening to different stories and learning who the other person is.
Entrust the people you live alongside to me tonight. Ask for the patient kindness to understand someone unfamiliar. Your Father wants you to welcome one another as family in Jesus, instead of rebuilding the wall he has already torn down.
With all my love,
Your Father
Ephesians 2:14–16
WEB14For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of separation,
15having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,
16and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it.
A short reflection
Paul teaches that through the cross Christ removes the dividing wall and hostility between Jews and Gentiles, creating one new humanity and reconciling both to God in one body.
