Longing for Your Father's Name at Night
My dear son,
I am glad when you seek me in the quiet of the night. If you call my name because you want to know your Father better, beyond simply wanting something more, I want to share that time with you.
Like Isaiah's song, place your hope in me and keep learning what is right. Your longing for me can reach the way you treat people and the choices you make. I want closeness with you throughout your whole life.
Tell me tonight what you treasure. Gratitude and things you hope to learn are both welcome. I love you as you seek to live by my word. There is no hurry; rest beside your Father for a while.
With all my love,
Your Father
Isaiah 26:8–9
WEB8Yes, in the way of your judgments, LORD, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
9With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
A short reflection
In Isaiah's song, the people follow God's ways, hope in him, and long for him in the night, looking to learn righteousness through his judgments.
