Fellowship in the Light
My dear son,
I am light, and there is no darkness in me. I want the closeness you speak of with me to take shape in your life. If you notice a gap between your words and actions, bring it honestly before me rather than hiding it.
Walking in the light is not creating a flawless appearance. It is living truthfully, trusting the grace that cleanses you through Jesus' blood. Within that honesty, relationships in which you share your hearts with one another can grow.
Tell me your thoughts tonight. Face what needs correcting responsibly, and rejoice in the love you have received. Your Father wants you to live freely in truthful love, rather than spend your strength keeping things concealed.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 John 1:5–7
WEB5This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and don’t tell the truth.
7But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
A short reflection
First John declares that God is light, rejects claims of fellowship with God while walking in darkness, and teaches fellowship and cleansing through Jesus' blood in the light.
