Waiting with an Honest Hope
My dear son,
You do not have to hide a wrong or dress it in convincing words when you return to me. Tell me honestly what you want to turn away from. You can admit your sin and still trust my mercy enough to begin again.
If you have fallen, do not decide that this is where your life must end. Acknowledge what was wrong and return. Even in darkness, you can wait for the Father who judges rightly and leads you into the light.
Tell me tonight what needs putting right, and calmly consider your responsibility. Receive with gratitude the joys already given as well. I am your Father, and I want you to return honestly and live anew in my presence.
With all my love,
Your Father
Micah 7:7–9
WEB7But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
8Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.
9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light. I will see his righteousness.
A short reflection
Amid communal corruption and suffering, the speaker in Micah waits for God, acknowledges sin, and hopes for God's defense and guidance into the light.
