Encouragement in the Words We Share

My dear son,

I want you to find endurance and encouragement as you read Scripture. It is more than a book you open to add to your list of duties. In it, you encounter the love with which I have guided people across generations.

That love helps sustain your hope and teaches your heart how to live with others. I want you to enjoy following Jesus together, making room for one another and praising me with a shared heart and purpose.

Tonight, you may slowly read one passage that stays with you. Tell me what it brings to your heart. I am glad to see you move beyond receiving strength for yourself into a life of offering encouragement to others.

With all my love,
Your Father

Romans 15:4–6

4For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

5Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,

6that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A short reflection

Paul teaches that Scripture was written to give hope through endurance and encouragement, and prays that believers will follow Christ in unity and glorify God together.
