Α · ΩEnd Your Day

Grateful to Belong to the Lord

My dear son,

In your working hours and your moments of rest, you belong to the Lord. Your place is not determined by how useful you have been today. Your life is held within the love revealed through Jesus' death and resurrection.

I want you to hear the confession that, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. Your life did not arise alone, only to be sustained alone. You may love me and gratefully enjoy the life entrusted to you.

Set your roles aside for a while tonight. Before your Father, you are as precious at rest as you are when busy with work. End the day at ease, knowing that you are a child who belongs to me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Romans 14:7–9

WEB

7For none of us lives to himself, and none dies to himself.

8For if we live, we live to the Lord. Or if we die, we die to the Lord. If therefore we live or die, we are the Lord’s.

9For to this end Christ died, rose, and lived again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

A short reflection

Paul explains that believers do not live or die for themselves alone, but belong to the Lord in both life and death, because Christ is Lord of all.
