The Love That Reached You First
My dear son,
I did not begin loving you only after you had become good enough. While people were still weak and caught in sin, Jesus gave his life for them. My love is the love that took the first step toward you.
Do not think you must have lived this day perfectly before you may seek me. You can bring happy stories and honest confessions alike. I want you to stand before me with confidence in my mercy.
Face what needs correcting honestly within that love. When something has gone well, let us rejoice and give thanks. Tonight, let your heart rest from trying to earn love, and lean on the Father who loved you first.
With all my love,
Your Father
Romans 5:6–8
WEB6For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
7For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.
8But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
A short reflection
Paul teaches that Christ's death for people while they were still weak and sinful clearly demonstrates God's love.
