Keeping the Word with Love

My dear son,

I welcome your desire to protect the teaching you treasure. I want that care to show through faith and love, rather than words that pressure others. Let what you have learned in Christ become the pattern of your life.

You do not have to guard what I have entrusted to you through your strength alone. The Holy Spirit dwelling within you helps. You can therefore live prayerfully and honestly, instead of merely making louder declarations of certainty.

Tell me this evening where Scripture touched your day. Even the effort you made to answer with love matters. Your Father wants what you believe and the way you treat people to mature together.

A short reflection

Paul tells Timothy to follow the pattern of sound teaching in faith and love in Christ, and to guard the good entrusted to him through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
