Remembering One Another in Prayer

My dear son,

There is tenderness in remembering someone faithfully in prayer. Paul recalled Timothy's tears and sincere faith, longing to see him. He also treasured the love within Timothy's family that had helped carry that faith to him.

Think of the people who shared faith with you and walked beside you. They may be family, or people you met elsewhere. It brings me joy to see you discovering my love through the care you give one another.

Tonight, tell me one name for which you are grateful. You, too, can remember someone tenderly in prayer. Enjoy the truth that sincere love can continue between people even when they do not often have the chance to meet.

With all my love,
Your Father

2 Timothy 1:3–5

3I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day

4longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

5having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, in you also.

A short reflection

Paul remembers Timothy's tears and sincere faith in his prayers, recalling that the same faith first lived in Timothy's grandmother Lois and mother Eunice.
