Treasured Relationships Held in Prayer
My dear son,
Do not be ashamed of missing someone when it is time to part. Paul and the elders prayed together, then wept and embraced. The feelings left by love are precious before me, and you do not need to conceal them.
Tell me the names of people you cherish. You can bring me prayers for those nearby and those far away. You cannot keep every meeting from ending, but you can continue to love those people and entrust them to me.
Words of thanks need not stay only in your heart; you may share them. Tonight, gratefully remember the kind faces that have been part of your life. I want you to receive and treasure the time you have shared with those you love.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 20:36–38
WEB36When he had spoken these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.
37They all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him,
38sorrowing most of all because of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
A short reflection
Paul and the Ephesian elders kneel in prayer, weep and embrace because they expect not to see him again, and accompany him to his ship.
