The Care Remembered in a Garment
My dear son,
I treasure the care that leaves its mark on everyday life. When people brought out the clothes Tabitha had made, those garments held the love they had received while she was with them. Love can remain in things made by hand.
Do not assume that you must leave a great monument to have lived meaningfully. Noticing what someone needs and thoughtfully providing it can bring warmth to that person's day. A modest gift can carry attentive love.
If a kindness you received comes to mind, let us give thanks together. You can share love through a small thing you do well, too. Tonight, measure love by the warmth it leaves in people's lives, rather than by applause.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 9:37–39
WEB37In those days, she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
38As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.
39Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the tunics and other garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
A short reflection
After Tabitha dies, Peter arrives and finds widows weeping as they show him the clothing she made while she was with them.
