The Hands Holding the Basket
My dear son,
There is no shame in depending on someone else's hands for protection. Saul entrusted himself to a basket held by others as they lowered him outside the city. On that night, their care helped keep him alive.
I do not want you to leave yourself in danger just to appear brave. Asking for help and deciding to move somewhere safe can be wise and valuable. Your life is a life I hold precious.
Even in peaceful times, receive gratefully the efforts of people who protect one another. Love can continue both when you reach out a hand and when you accept help. Tonight, rest comfortably as a child who is allowed to be cared for.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 9:23–25
WEB23When many days were fulfilled, the Jews conspired together to kill him,
24but their plot became known to Saul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,
25but his disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.
A short reflection
When a plot against Saul leads people to watch the city gates, the disciples lower him in a basket outside the wall at night so he can escape.
