The Lord Who Came with Peace

My dear son,

Jesus came again to Thomas and showed him his hands and side. I want you to know the tenderness that offered peace first and helped him believe. You are free to grow before me without concealing your questions.

Now you can come to know Jesus through the words that tell of that meeting. The blessing he gave to those who believe without seeing is a precious promise for you, too. You need not postpone faith while waiting for an extraordinary experience.

This evening, speak to the Jesus you have come to know in your own words. Even a brief confession can carry sincerity. As Thomas recognized his Lord, may you trust your Father's love more deeply and rest in peace.

With all my love,
Your Father

John 20:26–29

WEB

26After eight days, again his disciples were inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the middle, and said, “Peace be to you.”

27Then he said to Thomas, “Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don’t be unbelieving, but believing.”

28Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

29Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

A short reflection

Jesus invites Thomas to examine his wounds and believe. Thomas confesses him as Lord and God, and Jesus blesses those who believe without seeing.
