A Place to Explain Your Tears

My dear son,

Sometimes your heart may linger somewhere before you understand what has happened. I do not want to rush you through that moment. Even on the morning of the resurrection, Mary was crying outside the empty tomb.

When asked why she was weeping, Mary said honestly what was in her heart. You may bring me thoughts that are not yet sorted out, too. You do not have to understand everything correctly before you can come close.

Give that same space to other people when you listen. Sometimes a kind, attentive ear is needed more than a quick explanation. Tonight, share your heart in the knowledge that you have a Father who will make time to hear you fully.

With all my love,
Your Father

John 20:11–13

WEB

11But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,

12and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13They asked her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have laid him.”

A short reflection

When angels ask Mary why she is weeping outside the empty tomb, she says someone has taken her Lord away and she does not know where he has been laid.
