Finding Peace in Jesus
My dear son,
Jesus offered his disciples peace even though he knew they would scatter. His love was not reserved for the times when their faith was strong. I want you to trust and depend on a love that knows your weakness, too.
Take courage in Jesus, who has overcome the world. You are not being told to conquer every circumstance through your own strength. I want you to keep choosing what is good, knowing there is a love you can return to on difficult days.
Tell me tonight where you need courage. Share your anticipation of happy things as well. Entrust your life to your Father, that you may know peace in Jesus, and let yourself rest.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 16:31–33
WEB31Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
32Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
A short reflection
Jesus foretells that the disciples will scatter, yet says the Father remains with him. He invites them to find peace and courage in him amid the world's troubles.
