Love That Gathers Us Together
My dear son,
My children are not all born in the same place or living the same kind of life. Jesus gave his life to gather those who were scattered into one. My love reaches beyond the boundaries of any single group.
I hope you will think of more than people like you as family. Among unfamiliar languages and different ways of living are children I love. That is why the effort of getting to know one another is precious.
Entrust the people who share your faith to me tonight. Even when your opinions differ, may you respect one another within Jesus' love. I want my children to share their hearts and their lives, rather than turn their backs on each other.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 11:51–52
WEB51Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
52and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
A short reflection
John explains that Caiaphas's words prophesy Jesus' death, which will gather God's scattered children into one.
