A Helping Hand Beside the Gift of Life
My dear son,
I want tender care to follow the joy of someone coming back to life. When Lazarus came out of the tomb, Jesus told the people to remove the cloths wrapped around him. There was a place for their hands in that moment.
Giving life rests in my power, but I also gave people a part in helping someone who has risen again. Welcome your neighbor's joyful recovery, and pay attention to the help that person may still need.
You do not have to solve everything. Put love into the help you are able to offer. Tonight, entrust yourself and your neighbors to the Father who treasures life, and let yourself rest with a thankful heart.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 11:41–44
WEB41So they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you listened to me.
42I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude standing around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.”
43When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
44He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Free him, and let him go.”
A short reflection
After thanking his Father, Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb. When Lazarus emerges alive, Jesus tells the people to remove his burial wrappings.
