Seeing and Listening More Truthfully
My dear son,
An opinion formed by someone who hardly knows you cannot contain the whole of who you are. As you look at others, leave room for the possibility that what you have seen is only part of their story as well.
People judged Jesus by their own standards, but he knew where he had come from and where he was going. He was with me, the Father who sent him, and did not root his life in their judgments.
Consider the direction of your life before me. Listen humbly when there is something to learn, without handing yourself over to every opinion. I want you to love the truth while growing slower to pass judgment on another person.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 8:14–16
WEB14Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.
15You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
16Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
A short reflection
Jesus says his testimony is true because he knows his origin and destination. Others judge by human standards, but he stands together with the Father who sent him.
