Praise in the Middle of the Night

My dear son,

I hear the praise you offer at night. Your song does not have to be loud or beautiful. Even a quiet hum is precious when it is your way of handing me your heart. I want to receive it with care.

At midnight in prison, Paul and Silas prayed and sang to me. Confinement could not separate their hearts from mine. The people nearby were listening to their songs, hearing praise from within that unlikely place.

Bring me your songs on happy days and your prayers on quiet ones. You do not need to force a particular feeling. Call on me with the heart you have today. I am your Father, close beside you and glad to hear your voice.

With all my love,
Your Father
