Looking to the Lamb of God
My dear son,
If you want to understand my love for you, look to the Lamb who takes away the world's sin. I placed that burden upon Jesus because of my deep desire to give you life, never because sin mattered little.
When you recognize a wrong, do not assume you must make yourself clean through your own strength. You may confess honestly and depend on the Savior I sent. I want you to be willing to receive mercy.
Tonight, stay close to Jesus' love instead of measuring yourself by the depth of your regret. Put right what needs correcting, and live again with a forgiven heart. This is your Father's desire: to give you a new life.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 1:29–31
WEB29The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’
31I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”
A short reflection
John identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the world's sin and the one who existed before him, explaining that his baptism prepares for Jesus to be revealed.
