Knowing the Father Through the Son

My dear son,

You do not have to work to prove how much you know about me. Open your heart as a child listening to a father speak. I do not divide up my love according to the size of someone's knowledge.

Jesus gave thanks with joy that my purposes had been revealed to little children. Listen to the Son who makes me known, and you can come to know me more deeply than through the picture you have formed on your own.

Tonight, you may say freely when you do not know something. I welcome your desire to ask and learn. More than appearing clever in someone's eyes, I want you to grow with joy within my love.

With all my love,
Your Father

Matthew 11:25–27

25At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.

26Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.

27All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

A short reflection

Jesus thanks God for revealing his purposes to little children, and teaches that the Father is known through the Son and those to whom the Son reveals him.
