Asking for Hands to Share the Care
My dear son,
Jesus looked at the weary crowds with compassion, seeing them as sheep without a shepherd. I do not view people's circumstances as mere numbers or distant reports. I am a Father who wants care to reach each person.
The call to pray for workers for the harvest carries a desire for people to share in that care. Do not assume you must meet every need yourself. Ask me to provide other hands that can join in helping.
Those who care for others also need rest within my love. Tonight, entrust both the people receiving help and those giving it to me. May your attention and your prayers remain close to people with gentleness and care.
With all my love,
Your Father
Matthew 9:35–38
WEB35Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.
37Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.”
A short reflection
Moved with compassion for the weary, helpless crowds, Jesus compares them to sheep without a shepherd and tells the disciples to ask God for workers for the harvest.
