Making Room for Someone Small
My dear son,
When you meet someone, I want you to value the person, rather than first asking how important they are. Jesus brought a child into the middle of the disciples and held that child in his arms. Someone small belonged at the center of love.
A quiet voice does not mean a person matters less. When you meet a child's eyes and make room for them, I gladly receive the warmth with which you welcome that child in Jesus' name.
You do not have to make yourself look important before me either. Being my beloved child is enough to make you precious. Tonight, may the love you have received make room in your heart to welcome someone else tenderly.
With all my love,
Your Father
Mark 9:36–37
WEB36He took a little child and set him in the middle of them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,
37“Whoever receives one such little child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, doesn’t receive me, but him who sent me.”
A short reflection
Holding a child in his arms, Jesus teaches that welcoming one such child in his name means welcoming him and the God who sent him.
