Jesus Alone on the Mountain

My dear son,

When the conversations of the day grow quiet, let me hear what is on your heart, too. You do not have to invent a special prayer request. Come comfortably beside me, as you would to talk about a day spent together.

After sending the crowd away and having his disciples cross ahead of him, Jesus went up the mountain alone to pray. Even on a day filled with activity, he treasured time spent with his Father.

I would love for us to have that kind of time together. We can enjoy what made you happy and slowly find words for what is difficult to say. An evening spent quietly in my presence is welcome, too. I am glad you are here.

With all my love,
Your Father

46After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.

A short reflection

After feeding the crowd, Jesus sends the disciples ahead by boat and dismisses the people. He then goes up the mountain to pray.
