Finding Your Direction in Prayer

My dear son,

Just because everyone is looking for you does not mean every request must become your responsibility. I want you to pause beside me and consider the direction of your life, instead of running only after other people's expectations.

Jesus prayed in a secluded place while people were looking for him, then set out for other towns to proclaim the good news. Among the many calls for his attention, he remembered the purpose for which he had come.

Step back from the noise of busyness for a little while this evening and talk with me. Tell me about the people you want to care for and the work before you. Bring your need for rest, too. Your whole day matters to me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Mark 1:35–38

WEB

35Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.

36Simon and those who were with him searched for him.

37They found him and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”

38He said to them, “Let’s go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason.”

A short reflection

Jesus prays alone before dawn. Even after hearing that everyone is looking for him, he chooses to continue his mission of preaching in other towns.
