Peace from the Risen Lord
My dear son,
It is all right to have questions as you come to know me. Faith does not require you to hide every uncertainty. I want you to stay near me with an honest heart, bringing your questions into our relationship.
The risen Jesus offered peace to his startled disciples and showed them his hands and feet. He stood close to them rather than simply demanding belief from a distance. I want you to know me through that same tenderness.
Do not rush to measure the strength of your faith if you have not found every answer tonight. You can come to know me gradually through Scripture. May the peace Jesus offered among his disciples find a cherished place in your heart.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 24:36–39
WEB36As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.”
37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?
39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”
A short reflection
The risen Jesus speaks peace to his disciples and shows his hands and feet to assure them that he is truly alive, rather than the ghost they fear.
