An Evening at the Same Table
My dear son,
I enjoy the time you spend sitting beside me and talking. You do not need to hurry to find words that report what you have accomplished. Simply being together is precious to us, and there is room for you to settle in.
Even with suffering ahead of him, Jesus deeply desired to share the Passover meal with his disciples. I want you to know that love, the love that held a shared table close to its heart.
Tell me about your day slowly tonight: something you enjoyed eating, something that made you laugh, or a question you still have. As you look forward to the table in my kingdom, enjoy the time you can share with the people near you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 22:14–16
WEB14When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.
15He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
16for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”
A short reflection
Before his suffering, Jesus tells the disciples how deeply he has wanted to share the Passover with them, and points to its fulfillment in God's kingdom.
