A Prayer That Looks for Justice
My dear son,
I do not find your voice a nuisance. You may bring me the same prayer again. I listen because I love you, not because you have found enough words or made a long enough appeal to earn my attention.
I am not a judge who disregards the rights of someone wronged. I am your Father, who hears cries offered day and night and establishes justice. As you wait for an answer, keep bringing your trust to me.
There is room beside your own concerns for someone else's story, too. Tonight, entrust even your unanswered prayers to me. You are my beloved child, and you are always welcome to speak openly in my presence.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 18:6–8
WEB6The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
7Won’t God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
8I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
A short reflection
Concluding the parable of the unjust judge, Jesus says God will vindicate those who cry out day and night, and asks whether faith will endure.
