The Names of Stars and the Place of the Lowly

My dear son,

Though the night sky holds countless stars, I know them and give each its name. To the one who made this vast world, your name matters too. I do not see you as someone merely passing unnoticed among many others.

The eyes that count the stars also attend to people in lowly places. I do not want love that admires distant beauty while missing nearby pain. May your own gaze grow in the kindness that recognizes the worth of one person.

If a name brings gratitude tonight, let us give thanks together. Tell me your story freely. Offer joy as though you were singing with a harp. I warmly welcome you beside me.

With all my love,
Your Father
