Loving People while Accepting Their Limits
My dear son,
Love the people beside you tenderly, while remembering that one person cannot bear the entire weight of your life. Sharing what each can offer and accepting one another's limits helps a relationship grow warm and healthy.
Even powerful people leave plans unfinished when their breath ends. I want your deepest trust to rest in me beyond passing human authority. Know me as the Father who looks upon you with enduring love.
If there is someone you want to thank tonight, tell me gladly. Receive human help as precious, and rely on my love too. May praise and true friendship grow side by side in your everyday life, each bringing its own joy.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 146:1–4
WEB1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, my soul.
2While I live, I will praise the LORD. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
3Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help.
4His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.
A short reflection
The psalmist vows lifelong praise to God and warns against ultimate trust in rulers, since mortal people die and their plans perish with them.
