Asking Humbly for Mercy
My dear son,
You do not have to struggle to appear perfect before me. I want to meet the heart that tells the truth. Let us be close enough for you to acknowledge a wrong and ask about what you do not know.
Seek mercy with trust in my faithfulness and righteousness. No one can stand fully before me on personal merit alone. Instead of dressing yourself up, lean on my compassion and learn the right road.
Tell me this evening about your encounters with others. As you judge another person's actions, remember the grace you have received. As your loving Father, I want honesty and humility to grow together within you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 143:1–2
WEB1Hear my prayer, LORD. Listen to my petitions. In your faithfulness and righteousness, relieve me.
2Don’t enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no man living is righteous.
A short reflection
The psalmist appeals to God's faithfulness and righteousness for an answer, asking not to face judgment because no living person is righteous before him.
