Beside You as You Sit and Rise

My dear son,

Your ordinary moments of sitting, standing, and walking down a road matter to me. You do not need an important event before you can talk with me. I am a Father who knows your daily life closely.

Even if some thoughts never quite reach your lips, be at ease before me. I know what you are trying to say. Instead of straining to explain everything without omission, let your heart rely on the love that already knows you.

Begin slowly with whatever remains in your heart tonight. A view along the road or a moment that made you smile is welcome. I am glad when you sit beside me just as you are.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 139:1–4

WEB

1LORD, you have searched me, and you know me.

2You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

3You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

4For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, LORD, you know it altogether.

A short reflection

The psalmist confesses that God knows his sitting and rising, his thoughts and every path, and understands his words even before he speaks.
