A Gaze Turned toward the Lowly
My dear son,
Even if your voice is quiet, I listen. You do not need an impressive position to be noticed by me. As the Father who loves the person I made, I keep my care close to your life.
I am the God who looks after the lowly. You may trust me and reach out your hand. Even when you need help in the middle of the road, rely on my steadfast love. I want you to know a love that cherishes your very existence.
Let us share your story gently this evening. Offer your ears to the quiet voices near you as well. I am glad when my love grows in the care you show one another.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 138:6–8
WEB6For though the LORD is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but he knows the proud from afar.
7Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.
8The LORD will fulfill that which concerns me. Your loving kindness, LORD, endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands.
A short reflection
The psalmist declares that God regards the lowly and helps him in trouble, asking the Lord whose love endures forever not to abandon the work of his hands.
