Asking for Mercy from the Depths
My dear son,
You can bring me a desperate cry, as though calling from deep waters. Even when you recognize your wrongdoing, come honestly toward me instead of moving away. I am a Father who wants you to find the way back.
If every sin were counted against a person, no one could confidently claim to stand righteous on their own. Look toward me with a heart seeking forgiveness. Receive my mercy as precious and learn again how to live rightly.
If something needs to be said truthfully today, let us face it together. I treasure your sincere heart as you lift your face and ask forgiveness. Rest beside me tonight, relying on love.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 130:1–4
WEB1Out of the depths I have cried to you, LORD.
2Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.
3If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
4But there is forgiveness with you, therefore you are feared.
A short reflection
Crying from the depths, the psalmist acknowledges that no one could stand if God kept a record of sins, and honors God because forgiveness is found with him.
