Words Kept in Your Heart

My dear son,

Keep my words near you like a letter you want to save for years. As you read them again, slowly discover the heart with which I call you. I am a Father who wants to offer you hope and comfort.

Even on a day when others mock you, hold on to my teaching. Ask me what is right and good rather than letting harsh voices decide. My words are meant to build your life faithfully, not make you feel small.

If a passage remains with you tonight, let us talk about it. May love and truth grow in your choices. You need not understand everything quickly; keep learning steadily beside me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 119:49–52

WEB

49Remember your word to your servant, because you gave me hope.

50This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has revived me.

51The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your law.

52I remember your ordinances of old, LORD, and have comforted myself.

A short reflection

The psalmist remembers hope and comfort through God's word, refusing to abandon the law under arrogant mockery and finding consolation in God's enduring judgments.
