A Prayer That Sings of Open Space
My dear son,
There is room before me for you to open your heart. Do not imagine me as a narrow doorway you can pass through only by choosing perfect words. Come close to your loving Father and take your time.
There is a song of someone who called to me in distress and rejoiced when I brought him into open space. I hope you will never be ashamed to ask for help. I look tenderly on you as you rely on my love.
Enjoy whatever peace is available to you tonight. Take an offered hand when you need it, and speak honestly about your heart. Call me your nearby Father, and let us spend this evening together.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 118:5–6
WEB5Out of my distress, I called on the LORD. The LORD answered me with freedom.
6The LORD is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
A short reflection
The psalmist declares that God answered his cry from distress and brought him into a spacious place, and that God's presence enables him to overcome fear.
