Gratitude That Lifts the Cup of Salvation
My dear son,
I am glad for your desire to say thank you. Before worrying about how to repay the love you have received, enjoy that love freely. A child's grateful smile is itself a precious gift to a father.
As one lifts the cup of salvation and calls my name, share your joy in me through your life. I also treasure your faithful attention to promises made before me. Let gratitude find a home in both your words and your daily living.
Tell me what we can give thanks for this evening. You can express that appreciation to someone who has been kind to you. Receive grace as love, rather than tallying it as a burden you owe.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 116:12–14
WEB12What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the LORD’s name.
14I will pay my vows to the LORD, yes, in the presence of all his people.
A short reflection
The psalmist asks how to respond to God's goodness and vows to lift the cup of salvation, call on God's name, and fulfill his promises before the community.
