Faith beside Honest Words
My dear son,
Please do not think you must always choose strong, confident words when you speak with me. I want to hear your honest heart. You can come close with a desire to believe and difficult questions present at the same time.
The one who spoke of life's deep suffering still held faith in me. There was also a day when fear led him to say no one could be trusted. I will not isolate a single sentence and use it to measure your entire heart.
Tell me your story slowly tonight. Listen to others with kindness that seeks the circumstances behind their words too. I want to be a Father with whom you share your heart without concealment.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 116:10–11
WEB10I believed, therefore I said, “I was greatly afflicted.”
11I said in my haste, “All people are liars.”
A short reflection
The psalmist declares that he maintained faith while deeply afflicted and honestly recalls saying in his alarm that no one could be trusted.
