The Tender Beauty of Days Like Wildflowers

My dear son,

When a wildflower blooms, its small beauty invites you to linger. The days you have been given are precious in that way too. I hope you can look with affection on ordinary encounters and the simple course of a day.

Human days are brief, like flowers that fade in the wind, but my love endures toward those who honor me. As you trust my promise and follow my ways, rely on the affection I have for you.

If there is a kind word you want to offer today, you need not hold it back. Enjoy the time you and your neighbors share. As someone deeply loved, may you also discover the joy of giving love.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 103:15–18

WEB

15As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

16For the wind passes over it, and it is gone. Its place remembers it no more.

17But the LORD’s loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children’s children,

18to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts.

A short reflection

The psalmist compares brief human life to wildflowers while celebrating God's everlasting love toward those who fear him and keep his covenant and commands.
