Recognizing the Time for Night
My dear son,
I would like to watch the sunlight fade into night with you. In the world I made, different creatures move at different times. An evening when the moon rises is not an empty stretch left without purpose.
At night, forest creatures emerge and lions seek their food; at sunrise they return to their dens. I want you to have rhythms of work and rest too. Care for your body and receive its time of rest with gratitude.
You may set today's work aside and settle comfortably. You remain a precious living person while you rest. Receive quiet hours from me as a gift, instead of treating every night only as space for more work.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 104:19–22
WEB19He appointed the moon for seasons. The sun knows when to set.
20You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the animals of the forest prowl.
21The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.
22The sun rises, and they steal away, and lie down in their dens.
A short reflection
The psalm praises God for appointing seasons through the moon and sun and ordering night and day, within which forest animals and lions find their rhythms of life.
