Remembering What Remains through Change
My dear son,
As time shows itself in well-worn clothes, many things in the world change. Familiar surroundings change, and so do people's faces. Tonight I want to remind you that you can depend on me amid those changes.
I laid the earth's foundations and made the heavens, and passing years will not wear me away. I remain the same. When you seek a love you can carry through your life, open your heart toward me and come near.
Care tenderly for the people beside you today. Cultivate the goodness you hope to pass to the next generation. Rest in knowing that your brief day is held within my enduring love.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 102:25–28
WEB25Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands.
26They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.
27But you are the same. Your years will have no end.
28The children of your servants will continue. Their offspring will be established before you.”
A short reflection
The psalmist declares that although the created heavens and earth wear out like clothing, God remains eternally unchanged and his servants' descendants will stand secure before him.
