An Evening to Unfold Your Memories
My dear son,
Look back slowly on the love we have shared, as though you were opening an old letter again. Words you scarcely noticed at first can meet you differently when you return to them. I would like to share that kind of conversation tonight.
Take your time remembering the grace I have shown. As you discover my love in Scripture, ask about what you do not understand. Even in an ancient account, you can find the joy of coming to know me afresh today.
If a helpful hand remains in your memory, let us give thanks together. You need not force an explanation for everything tonight. I want to stay with you and treasure the story that continues between us.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 77:10–12
WEB10Then I thought, “I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
11I will remember the LORD’s deeds; for I will remember your wonders of old.
12I will also meditate on all your work, and consider your doings.
A short reflection
After voicing painful questions, the psalmist resolves to remember God's former deeds and wonders and reflect carefully on all that God has done.
