Learning Wisdom from the Hand That Holds You
My dear son,
You remain precious to me when you admit what you do not know. Do not delay coming to me because you are trying to hide your uncertainty. I gladly welcome you as you ask questions and learn beside your Father.
When someone else's circumstances stir envy in you, tell me honestly. Learn an unfamiliar road while relying on my hand. You do not have to put every thought in order before you can be close to me.
Tell me this evening about the life you hope for. Let us tend your heart as you learn from me what truly matters. I delight in your honest growth more than in your efforts to resemble someone else.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 73:21–24
WEB21For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.
22I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.
23Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.
24You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
A short reflection
After envying the prosperity of the wicked, the psalmist acknowledges his bitterness and ignorance, yet confesses that God holds his right hand and guides him with counsel.
