Remembering Grace as You Lie Down
My dear son,
Think of the contentment that follows a delicious meal shared together. I hope the joy of being with me grows that deep in you. May time beside me feel warm and welcome, something you can gladly enjoy.
As you lie down at night, remember my love with delight. Rest beneath the shelter of my wings and call to me affectionately. As you trust my hand, I want you to know the joy of a Father keeping his beloved child close.
Tell me about any kindness you want to hold in your heart tonight. I would love to share that happiness. Even as the day fades, there is nothing small or scarce about my care for you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 63:5–8
WEB5My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,
6when I remember you on my bed, and think about you in the night watches.
7For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
8My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up.
A short reflection
The psalmist praises God with the satisfaction of a rich feast, remembers his help through the night, and trusts the shelter of his wings and his sustaining right hand.
