A Song of a Tower and a Tent

My dear son,

I want you to know that you have somewhere to return and stay. When you look toward me, I hope you sense tenderness as well as strength. I do not want to be a Father who only watches from far above.

Rely on me like a strong tower, and settle comfortably as though you were staying in my tent. Love has both a firm hand to hold you and gentle arms that let you rest. I want to be that close to you.

Sit at ease beside me tonight. Let us rejoice in what went well and talk slowly about your questions. My heart gladly welcomes you when you want to stay.

With all my love,
Your Father

3For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy.

4I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.

A short reflection

The psalmist calls God his refuge and strong tower against enemies, and expresses his desire to dwell in God's tent forever and shelter beneath his wings.
