Seeking Love beneath Sheltering Wings

My dear son,

I am glad when you seek my company. Come near when you are joyful and when you need help. A father wants to meet the outstretched hand of a beloved child with his own warm grasp.

Lean on me as you would shelter beneath wings from wind and rain. What I want to share with you is steadfast love and faithfulness. Receive the care of a Father who is both tenderly present and worthy of your trust.

Let your heart lean toward me this evening. If receiving love helps you notice another person's need for shelter, I will be glad. I want to share with you the patient affection that stays beside someone without hurrying them.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 57:1–3

WEB

1Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed.

2I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me.

3He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. Selah. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

A short reflection

Seeking refuge under God's wings until disaster passes, the psalmist asks for mercy and deliverance through God's love and faithfulness, and for his pursuers to be rebuked.
