A Prayer to Be Heard Fairly
My dear son,
I am a Father who values your truthful words. Tell me the circumstances you have not yet been able to explain to someone else. I will not cut your story short and hurry to a conclusion before you are finished.
If false words leave you needing to set the record straight, ask me for help. Rely on me as the God who loves justice. Learn to examine patiently what is true instead of merely noticing who has more power.
This evening, offer someone else a kind and attentive ear too. Stay close to me as your concern for truth grows alongside your care for people. You can bring both desires into our conversation.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 43:1–2
WEB1Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.
2For you are the God of my strength. Why have you rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
A short reflection
Oppressed by deceitful and unjust people, the psalmist asks God to defend his cause and laments feeling rejected by the God who is his refuge.
