The Peace of Stopping to Look toward Me
My dear son,
This evening, relax your hands and look toward me for a moment. I remain God while you are still. You may sit beside me and release the thought that everything must be finished through your own effort.
I am the God who ends wars and breaks bows and spears. My strength does not keep people locked in endless conflict. I want kindness that protects life and makes peace to grow in your hands and words.
You can rest tonight even if some work remains unfinished. Like those who sang of me as their refuge, rely on your Father and settle into quiet. You do not need to keep every part of your life in motion to remain close to me.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 46:9–11
WEB9He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire.
10“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”
11The LORD of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
A short reflection
The Lord is praised as the one who ends wars and breaks weapons, then calls people to be still and know he is God; the congregation affirms his presence.
