Beside the Fountain of Life
My dear son,
As a cool drink refreshes your throat, I want my love to reach and refresh your heart. I do not want you to think of me only as someone making endless demands. Meet me gladly as the Father who gives you life.
I want to shelter you like the shade of wings and give you joy like a generous table. Think of a refreshing stream and a fountain of life as you come near. I hope receiving my love feels warm and welcome to you.
Make room this evening to enjoy what you have been given with gratitude. If someone can join your table, share the gladness too. I want to keep sharing my life-giving love with you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 36:7–9
WEB7How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of your house. You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
9For with you is the spring of life. In your light we will see light.
A short reflection
The psalmist praises God's precious love through images of sheltering wings, a plentiful household, and a river of delights, declaring that life and light come from God.
