A Heart That Waits for Justice
My dear son,
You do not need to match your pace to someone whose path seems faster. I care about how you live as well as what you gain. Entrust to me the road you are walking with a desire to do good.
Do not let someone boasting about success through wrongdoing make your own heart harsh. Pause before me and consider what is good. I treasure the honesty and kindness you can carry faithfully over time.
Tonight, you can set comparison aside for a while. Ask me for wisdom to choose the right road. Let us talk patiently together, so that resentment does not become all that remains in your heart. I am here as your Father.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 37:7–9
WEB7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret; it leads only to evildoing.
9For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.
A short reflection
The psalmist urges quiet patience before the Lord, warning against anger over the success of evil schemes lest resentment lead to wrongdoing.
